Re: Linking Repeaters without Internet?

Sure - it happens all the time. Nodes don't have to be public, and to connect, you just put the private IP address in the "phone book" so the opposite end (or hub) knows about the others and everyone is happy.

Re: COR / CTCCS on URI question

Lu,

The 64 bit release has had some work done to the squelch. It's in beta right now but I'm quite happy with how the carrier squelch works with the newest release. Keep an eye out for the new stuff - Steve will likely release it to the public soon.

Re: HELP - Cant register node

DNS is something that can keep a server from properly registering. Make sure you have DNS set correctly in the "SETUP" of the Ethernet connection. We have had good luck with Open DNS 208.67.222.222 and Google DNS 8.8.8.8 Also, you must log-in to the box and press the orange button. To do t...

Re: Installation Instructions - Step-By-Step

DNS is another thing that will keep a node from properly registering. Make sure you put DNS in when setting up the Ethernet port. Running the "SETUP" command from the command line will get you there. Also, you must log-in to the box and press the orange button. To do this, you must browse ...

Maximizing bits (optimizing audio levels)

When setting up your RF node, there is an optimization we do to maximize the number of bits in the receive audio stream. This allows the greatest signal to noise ratio and can make the carrier squelch work better. Using the "Radio Tune" menu the first step is to set the "radio tune rx...

Hi Paul, Yes - several of us will be at the Dayton Hamvention. The basics of AllStar can be read about on the allstarlink.org website. We aren't the folks that invented AllStar, but we are one of the largest users of the technology and we have done some testing of features prior to their public rele...

Re: What's Missing

For the DSP to recognize and determine carrier squelch, discriminator audio must drive the URI, otherwise there isn't enough high-end noise for proper RSSI detection. If Discriminator audio is not readily available, you can use hardware COS and filtered audio into the URI.
