Linking Repeaters without Internet?

Postby W4SKI » Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:05 pm

Can Allstar Link be used to link repeaters without an Internet connection, but on a private LAN?

"Why?", you might ask?

To link two mountaintop repeater sites connected by a wireless LAN. Connecting the sites via a wireless LAN is something we are pretty sure we can do. Providing an Internet connection to one of the sites is something we are less sure of.

I sent an email inquiry to one of the allstarlink.org emails about a week ago with no response so far, so I thought I'd try here.

Sure - it happens all the time. Nodes don't have to be public, and to connect, you just put the private IP address in the "phone book" so the opposite end (or hub) knows about the others and everyone is happy.
