Parallel Port (PLRI / IRLP) etc

Postby k0kn » Thu Jun 06, 2013 11:39 pm

Hello all,

I am using unmodified CM108 fobs on my nodes, along with a homebrew parallel port interface called PLRI (parallel logic radio interface). An IRLP board can also be used, for those who'd rather not melt some solder.

The parallel port is used for COS, PTT and AUX 1,2,3 so there is no need to perform surgery on the CM108, or buy a $70 URI board from overseas.

With this approach, your cost per node is a fraction of a URI. You can scale the design from 1-5 radios and up to 4 aux outputs using a single parallel port!

Hello Kyle, I found this forum while searching for more info on how to do the configuration for my USb FOb.
Btw, I got my order yesterday from Staples thru Purolator....It was fast..I ordered Sat...got it Tuesday PM.
Anyway, I am using the Allstar Link Portal to configure my system...I already have a Node 29736.
How will I describe the radio interface... simple usb or usbradio?
I am just planning to set it up as a simplex system just like my VE6DBD-L Echolink.
Can you show a step by step instructions?
I am not a Linux savvy..
thanks
Dom

Hi Dom,

I just read your message, sorry! I'm pretty sure we handled this already via private message?
